Hair Loss Treatment in Pensacola, FL

You noticed it a while ago, didn't you.

PRF hair restoration uses growth factors concentrated from your own blood, injected into the scalp to support existing follicles and improve hair density. At Abound Aesthetics in Pensacola it's performed by nurse practitioner Rebecca Trevino. Most people need three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, with results appearing gradually over three to six months. It works best on thinning hair, not on areas that have been bare for years.

WHAT IT IS:

Early to moderate thinning, widening part, increased shedding

DOWNTIME:

Mild tenderness 1 to 2 days

HOW OFTEN:

3 to 4 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart

$650 per treatment

Before Anything Else

Hair loss has many causes, and they need different treatments. Androgenetic (pattern) hair loss is the most common, but it isn't the only one — and some of the others are medical conditions that need actual diagnosis:

  1. Thyroid disease - both under and overactive
  2. Iron deficiency - extremely common in women and frequently missed
  3. Telogen effluvium - shedding triggered by illness, surgery, childbirth, or significant stress, usually 3 months after the event
  4. Autoimmune conditions including alopecia areata
  5. Medication side effects
  6. Scarring alopecias - where follicles are being permanently destroyed and time genuinely matters

Why this matters more than anything we can sell you: PRF supports follicles that still exist. If your hair loss is driven by an untreated thyroid problem or low ferritin, PRF may help a little while the actual cause continues. And if you have a scarring alopecia, every month of delay is follicles you don't get back.

So we'll ask you to get bloodwork — thyroid panel, ferritin, vitamin D, and a CBC at minimum — before or alongside starting with us. If your pattern looks unusual, if there's scalp inflammation, scaling, itching, or patchy loss, we'll refer you to a dermatologist and we won't treat you first.

That costs us bookings. We do it anyway, because treating the wrong thing well is still treating the wrong thing.

How PRF Works

We draw a small amount of your blood and spin it in a centrifuge. That separates a concentrated layer of platelets and fibrin, the same cells your body uses to heal.

Platelets carry growth factors: signalling proteins that recruit blood supply, reduce inflammation, and support cell activity. Injected into the scalp, they act on the follicles that are still there, miniaturised, producing thinner and weaker hairs, but alive.

PRF versus PRP. PRP has more published research behind it. PRF is the newer preparation, no anticoagulant is added, and its fibrin matrix releases growth factors more slowly over time rather than all at once. The reasoning for PRF is sound and early evidence is encouraging, but PRP has the deeper evidence base, and you should know that rather than be told PRF is simply better.

What the evidence actually shows. Systematic reviews find PRP effective for increasing hair density and thickness in androgenetic alopecia, with efficacy roughly comparable to topical minoxidil and few adverse effects. Reviews of injectable PRF are more preliminary but promising. Both bodies of evidence share a real limitation: preparation methods vary widely between clinics, which makes outcomes inconsistent across studies. There's no single standardised protocol.

We're telling you that because "comparable to minoxidil" is a genuine, useful result, and it's a very different claim from the transformation photos you've seen online.

What This Will and Won't Do

Realistically, what to expect:

  1. Less shedding first. Usually the earliest change, often within two months. Fewer hairs in the drain and on the pillow.
  2. Improved density over 3–6 months. Existing follicles producing thicker, healthier hairs — so the same number of hairs covers better.
  3. A part that widens more slowly, or narrows somewhat.
  4. Better hair quality. Stronger, less brittle.

What it will not do:

  1. Regrow hair where follicles are gone. This is the crucial one. PRF supports living follicles. Scalp that's been bare for years has no follicles left to support, and no injection changes that.
  2. Stop pattern hair loss permanently. Androgenetic alopecia is progressive and driven by hormones and genetics. PRF supports the hair you have; it doesn't switch off the process. Without maintenance, you'll gradually return to your trajectory.
  3. Replace medical treatment. For many people, minoxidil or prescription therapy is the more effective foundation, with PRF alongside. We'd rather you have both than pay us for half a plan.
  4. Work for everyone. Some people respond well, some modestly, some not at all. We can't predict which you'll be, and we won't pretend otherwise.
  5. Fix a nutritional or hormonal cause. See the section above.

Who's Treating You

PRF hair treatments at Abound Aesthetics are performed by Rebecca Trevino, Nurse Practitioner and Master Injector.

She'll look at your scalp properly, pattern, density, whether the loss is diffuse or patterned, whether there's inflammation or scarring and tell you honestly whether this is likely to help you, whether you should see a dermatologist first, and whether you'd get more from a medical treatment.

Abound Aesthetics was founded by Hannah Moseley, licensed esthetician and owner, on the belief that beauty isn't about perfection, it's about amplifying what already makes you uniquely you.

What To Expect

Before: eat and hydrate well; you're having blood drawn. Skip alcohol the day before. Come with clean, product-free hair. Tell us about blood thinners.

During: a standard blood draw, then 10–15 minutes in the centrifuge. We inject the concentrate across the thinning areas of your scalp in a grid. Numbing is available. Most people describe pressure and brief stinging; the hairline is the most sensitive area.

Right after: tenderness, sometimes mild swelling. You can go straight back to your day. Wash your hair normally after about six hours.

Days 1 to 2: scalp tenderness like a workout ache. Skip strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Months 1 to 2: reduced shedding, usually the first sign.

Months 3 to 6: density improves gradually. This is where the result lives.

Maintenance: most people do a session every 6 to 12 months after the initial series.

Aftercare: no harsh products, chemical treatments, or color for 48 hours. No swimming pools or hot tubs for 24 hours. Regular shampoo is fine after six hours.

Fitting It Into a Pensacola Week

Forty-five minutes to an hour, no visible downtime beyond a tender scalp. You can come on a lunch break and go straight back to work, nobody will know.

One local note: Gulf Coast humidity and salt air are hard on hair, and heat and sun exposure aren't doing thinning hair any favors. If you're on the water often, a hat and a UV-protective leave-in are worth more than most products marketed at hair loss.

And a practical one: we schedule your series so the sessions fall four to six weeks apart. That's four appointments over roughly five months. Worth mapping against travel before you start, because gaps blunt the result.

We're at 100 S Baylen St E in downtown Pensacola. Thursdays until 7, the appointment most working clients take.

FAQ

Does PRF work for hair loss?

Systematic reviews find platelet therapy effective for increasing hair density and thickness in androgenetic alopecia, with efficacy roughly comparable to topical minoxidil and minimal side effects. It works best on thinning hair where follicles are still present, and it does not regrow hair in areas that have been bare for years.

How many sessions do I need?

Typically three to four, spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to twelve months. Hair loss is progressive, so results require ongoing treatment.

When will I see results?

Reduced shedding is usually the first change, often within two months. Improved density develops gradually over three to six months as follicles produce thicker, healthier hairs.

What's the difference between PRP and PRF?

Scalp injections cause pressure and brief stinging, with the hairline being most sensitive. Numbing is available and most people tolerate the treatment well. Tenderness for a day or two afterward is normal.

Will PRF regrow hair where I'm bald?

No. PRF supports follicles that still exist but have miniaturized. Scalp that has been bare for years no longer has viable follicles, and no injection can restore them. It works best on early to moderate thinning.

Do I need bloodwork before hair loss treatment?

We strongly recommend it. Thyroid disease, iron deficiency, and vitamin D deficiency are common and frequently missed causes of hair loss, particularly in women. Treating the underlying cause matters more than any cosmetic treatment.

Can I do PRF alongside minoxidil?

Yes, and for many people a combination is more effective than either alone. We'd rather you have a complete plan than pay us for part of one.

Where can I get PRF hair treatment in Pensacola?

At Abound Aesthetics, 100 S Baylen St E in downtown Pensacola, performed by nurse practitioner Rebecca Trevino.
